Charlotte AI Research

CAIR is a student-led organization at UNC Charlotte focused on building practical skills, conducting collaborative AI projects, and exploring real-world applications of artificial intelligence.

We provide a space for students from all backgrounds to work together on semester-long projects, participate in paper reading groups, and connect with peers and mentors interested in AI. Our members learn by doing- whether that’s developing AI-driven applications, experimenting with machine learning models, or collaborating with industry and academic partners on applied research.

The CAIR lab, located at Woodward 421A, is at the heart of our organization’s activities, serving as a collaborative workspace where members meet for project work, weekly discussions, workshops, and impromptu brainstorming sessions. It’s a place where ideas turn into prototypes, and where students can connect, learn, and build together. It’s open to anyone, so don't be afraid to stop by and say hi!

Our mission is to grow a supportive community of curious learners who want to apply AI responsibly and creatively. Through hands-on workshops, project teams, and outreach events, we aim to make AI more accessible, relevant, and impactful for both our members and the broader community.
